what is the best type of enclosure for a 12" alpine type x, sealed or ported?
i need to know what the best type of enclosure is for the alpine type x.
i listen to alot of heavy metal, some rap/r&b. and please dont say build one yourself.....some of us work for a living and dont have the time to build an enclosure, its just easier to buy one.
i just need to know if these subs perform better in a sealed or ported enclosure.
it seems to me that a sealed box is very forgiving and has a wide response range but the ported will have the effect of making the box seem "bigger" and you will likely get more bass tones. a slotted port/several small round ports might work well. id say it depends on what you want. sounds like a small port on a decent size box would work for what you want. adding foam and such to any box can make it sound bigger too. if you want something that won't resonate as much or just have a more even response range id look at sealed. for bigger bass try ported.
